Detective Holly Clay has served with the Xenia, Ohio Police Division for 20 years. As a detective, she has investigated domestic violence, sexual abuse, missing persons and financial crimes, and she has worked collaboratively with the Internet Child Protection Unit to assist with the apprehension of sexual predators.
Detective Clay has dedicated the last 18 years of her career to lessening the impact of domestic violence and other gender-based crimes as the city’s sole domestic violence detective. In this role, she is responsible for legal updates and departmental trainings on current domestic violence issues. Recently, Detective Clay initiated the formation of a multi-disciplinary task force in Greene County, dedicated to the provision of competent and comprehensive services for survivors of non-fatal strangulation.
To improve upon the investigation and prosecution of domestic violence offenders, Detective Clay created evidence-based lethality screenings that are now utilized by all Xenia Police Officers when responding to incidents of domestic violence. Because of her willingness to partner with social workers, and to continuously maintain an open mind to new ideas, she has developed a rare set of skills that helps her work with survivors of domestic violence.
Detective Clay became the first female officer to earn a spot on the Greene County Regional S.W.A.T. Team and has accomplished each of the “Xenia Physical Fitness Challenges.” She has been presented with numerous Accommodation Awards, a Leadership Award, and the Casey Elliot Memorial “City’s Finest” Award by the Xenia Police Division. Detective Clay previously served in the U.S. Army, and earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, from Clark State Community College.
